To solve the failures of our public schools we must:
1. Build enough schools to house the students we have. We cannot have overrun classrooms and overburdened teachers yet expect success.
2. Increase teacher salaries. We cannot keep the top talent within the education arena if we do not offer adequate pay. Nearly half of all teachers leave their position within the first five years. If we want bright, well educated students, we must retain our teachers.
3. Expand access to rigorous curriculum. Currently only 9 percent of Arizona students participate in Advanced Placement courses in comparison to 14 percent nationally. If we want to compete in a global marketplace our students must be prepared to take competitive courses at the high school level.
